Dr Shija

This is an example of a posthumous portrait painting. Various photographs of Dr Shija were examined and discussed with staff of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA). Due to flat lighting, most were not suitable as the basis for a portrait painting. One image did stand out from all the others with directional lighting giving good definition to the form/solidity of the head and figure. It was mutually agreed that this image should be the basis for the portrait, with changes made so that Dr Shija would be shown wearing the CPA tie and lapel badge.
